We are recruiting for a Health Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) who will provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children, with a focus on clients who have additional vulnerabilities due to health concerns.

In this role you will work within Lewisham GP Practices to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.


This role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies, including those in health to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial, and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and so called 'honour' based violence).


Some key responsibilites include:

  • Establishing the risks to and the needs of survivors of genderbased violence, identifying and prioritizing those at the highest risk.
  • Developing and delivering individual support and risk management plans to address the risk of harm to survivors of genderbased violence and their children, working directly with all key agency partners to ensure that their plans are coordinated through the MARAC.

This is a part-time post that can be from 6 to 9 months - flexibility on the number of working hours per week.
