RECOOP, part of the BCHA Group, has been supporting and delivering services to help the older offender population both in prisons and the community for over ten years.

The charity is delighted to be able to advertise for a part time Older Prisoner Co-Ordinator to work in the three Surrey prisons.

Funding has been secured to setup, implement and co-ordinate activities and programmes focussing on Health, Wellbeing and Menopause Support across the three prisons.

The post holder will work with Healthcare and Prison staff to support those vulnerable and at risk, to help reduce health inequalities and the effects of age and experiencing the menopause whilst in the criminal justice system.


This contract is in partnership with CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) who will also be delivering healthcare and mental health services at these sites.


Based in the three Surrey prisons - HMP Send, HMP Down View and HMP Bronzefield

Position:

The charity is delighted to be able to advertise for 2 x part time Older Prisoner Co-ordinators to support an exciting and innovative new Contract with the female prison estate in Surrey.


The roles will have responsibility for the implementation, management and co-ordination of age appropriate activities bringing focus to Health, Wellbeing and Menopause Support for those most vulnerable and at risk, helping to reduce health inequalities and the impact of ageing in a custodial environment.


Working with work with Healthcare and Prison staff, the Contract is in partnership with CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) who will also be delivering a range of healthcare and mental health services at these sites.

Our services in particular our Buddy peer support service have been recognised as good practice by HMIP (Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons), IMBs (Independent Monitoring Boards) and HMPPS (Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service).

With a national footprint, we are a registered charity working to empower older people within the criminal justice system to take control of their lives, to optimise their physical and mental health and to remain free from re-offending.

RECOOP has been pioneering new, effective ways to support older offenders and ex-offenders.

In recent years we have been commissioned by HMPPS to deliver two research projects looking at building capacity and support options to meet the growing older cohort.

We are gaining increasing national recognition for our work.

Requirements:


  • Ability to build effective relationships
  • Experience of working with older people, individuals in the Criminal justice system or social care setting.
