HR Business Advisor


Salary:
£39,469 to £47,089 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £39,469 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,089 will be via incremental progression.


Location:
Based at a location within the London Metropolitan area. locations TBC, with scope for some hybrid working.


Your Key Responsibilities:


This post requires a deep level of professional HR expertise alongside well-proven stakeholder management capability to assure HR services and people performance within a fast paced and demanding operational client group.


The HR Business Advisor is a new role, created in response to our mission to deliver 'More Trust, Less Crime, High Standards'.

As outlined in the 'A New Met for London' plans, we are enhancing the capability and professionalism of our front line and community support operations by embedding locally-based HR expertise to improve people performance across all areas.


Reporting to the business unit's Senior HR Business Advisor and working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and third party stakeholders, the role of the HR Business Advisor is to work with Local management to identify and drive HR solutions to improve operational performance and effective use of resources.

With the Senior HR Business Advisor, the post holder will be responsible for providing direction on key people areas such as:
attendance, grievance, performance, and dispute resolution and tribunal management amongst others.

The post holder will proactively identify cases using data and local knowledge. Providing advice and input to enable the progression and resolution of complex cases.


The post holder will deputise for the Senior HR Business Advisor as needed, with authority to make delegated decisions, and be the key contact for senior stakeholders.


A key member of the Met's People Performance team, the HR Business Advisor will also work closely with the People Performance leadership and administration teams, HR Business Partners and wider HR function to support the Senior HR Business Advisor in leading local HR services and supporting performance improvements, workforce planning and deployment.


The post holder will be expected to develop effective and supportive working relationships with all key stakeholders, drawing deeply upon HR performance data to inform and direct local people performance activities.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate the ability to analyse critically, taking an innovative and open-minded approach to identifying problem areas and solutions.

Crucial to the success in this role will be a delivery mindset to support the Senior HR Business Advisor in overseeing and assuring the effective use of HR services within the business unit.

  • A credible HR professional, able to use HR knowledge, experience, and excellent communication skills to build professional and supportive relationships, gaining the trust of colleagues.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of HR issues and understand the linkages to wider areas of the business.
  • Ability to rapidly build trust and good working relationships with internal and external partners including Staff Association representatives, third party providers, Occupational Health, and HR case managers.
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate basic policy understanding to support in advising Local Resource Planning Managers and Performance Team colleagues.
  • Effective meeting facilitator, including minute taking and updating of records.
  • Proven capability to work with data and provide insights from analysis (trends, hotspot, risk & issues).
  • Action and delivery focused, able to seek solutions and provide succinct information summaries to support issue resolution.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional service, including ensuring a positive customer experience. Able to review HR services from a customer perspective.
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise and delivery quality work within allotted timescales.
