Senior Residential Support Worker

40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

(This salary from September 2023 includes a market supplement of £1500 for Residential Support Workers)
Sleep-ins paid at an extra £78.48 per night _(This equates to approximately_
£3,500 _additional payment when working 1 sleep-in shift per week)_


This role can be both physically/emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence and patience to deal/manage with the challenging behaviours that young people can present, applicants must be prepared to work with challenging behaviour.

However, the role is also extremely rewarding and you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in your care.

The role will be based at one of our residential homes based throughout the City. Our students attend Freeman College based in the City Centre. Our students have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, which can involve complex diagnoses including autistic spectrum conditions.


You will supervise a team of Residential Support Workers to implement the daily operational needs of a safe residential house whilst ensuring there is a high quality of care and appropriate levels of supervision for our students in accordance with the agreed holistic care plans, study programmes and risk assessments in place for each student.

Our Residential Support Worker's main purpose is to support and facilitate the student's holistic needs, care, wellbeing, learning and development to enable their growth in confidence and social independence in a multi-disciplined, dynamic environment.

This includes their home, college sessions, work-related learning, and within the wider community.

  • You will input into the preparation of care plans and progress reports for our students and provide formal supervision for the Residential Support Worker Team.
  • You will need to deputise in the absence of the Residential House Manager as and when required
  • Some daytime, but predominantly evening and weekend working is an essential requirement of the role.
  • You will
    ideally hold an NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent and have experience of first line management.
