Description

But what really makes MSE stand out from the crowd is the Editorial Code, which lies at the heart of everything we do.

Regardless of role, at MSE it's everybody's job to champion the consumer - and that makes us a truly unique, exciting and rewarding place to work.

  • If you're inspired by what we do, or see yourself as a passionate consumer champion and have grit and enthusiasm, a career at MSE might just be the right step you're looking for. We are looking for a Press Officer to come and join us.
About the role

  • This isn't a typical Press Officer role you would normally come across. With a clear mission to help cut consumers' costs and fight their corner, it can be a really humbling and rewarding experience.
  • This is an outstanding opportunity to work directly with our founder, Martin Lewis. Whether that be creating new press opportunities or reacting to incoming requests you will help MSE continue to be that trusted voice for consumers, amplifying the very best of our free, independent help.
  • Ultimately, our role is to maximise the reach of all of MSE's work, and to seek ways to proactively help consumers in the areas they need understanding the most, including the ongoing cost of living crisis. We want to continue shouting about all the phenomenal things we are doing louder and further, with your help

  • About you

  • You will need to be motivated by a career in public relations and media, and keep up to date with industry standards and creative uses of PR.
  • You will be driven by MSE's mission of 'cutting your costs, fighting your corner', and excited about making a difference for consumers.
  • You'll be confident speaking to members of the media, in a professional and friendly manner. Working with journalists and building relationships is key. You will also be working with senior managers across MSE and strong, clear communication skills are essential.
  • Good written English and a love of writing content. Someone who has attention to detail, and has a snappy approach to complex information.
  • A nose for a good news story and potential case studies, and a genuine interest in current affairs and consumer issues.
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines and balance multiple projects and tasks you'll need to be adaptable to changing priorities and perform well while being kept on your toes
  • A good attitude and willingness to get involved in lots of tasks, with an understanding of how your work links in to the wider objectives of the team and MSE.
  • Knowledge of financial services and personal finance is a bonus. As is knowledge of how Parliament, regulation and lawmaking works.
  • Please note: You'll need to share weekend oncall responsibilities at least one weekend in three. We offer additional compensation for these occasions.
  • We're_
