Skills & Experience


Main Duties & Role Overview:

  • Ideate and commission shortform content ideas for artists across the Island roster.
  • Utilise your own strong network of freelance creative agencies and "socially native" videographers who can execute all kinds of content ideas with our artists and their teams.
  • Work closely with the shortform platform experts within the Island team, having been briefed on key projects, to deliver content ideas that fulfil strategic objectives and oversee them being executed in a timely manner.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the best examples of engaging content across the digital sphere and be prepared to deliver creative content strategies from the start of a single "prerelease" campaign, right the way through an album campaign and beyond.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, handling significant budgets & key stakeholders to commission and execute content deliverables to deadline.
  • Working within a progressive and supportive team, the shortform Creative Strategist will report into the Digital Innovation & Audience Lead, but also work equally close with the Marketing leads, Audience Managers and Studio Island creative team.
  • Where possible, taking the initiative to set own briefs and bringing unprompted ideas to the team.
  • Collaborate with UMG central teams where necessary, such as Rebel Labs.


Person Specification- Actively immersed in short-form video platforms, culture & music-based trends; Always stays ahead of the game.- Highly creative with a key focus on audience engagement and the execution of quality content.- Has a strong network of creative agencies & freelancers, who operate within the short-form space, that can reliably be tapped into.- Demonstrable ability to oversee end-to-end content creation process, both with external parties & individually.- A passion for music & understanding the nuance of content and artist journeys within each genre.- Always maintains best practice for each social platform.- Self-motivated and proactive in orchestrating and managing the execution of visual content.- Personable team player with a positive attitude.- Self-motivated, hard-working, and enthusiastic.- Diligent and reliable, capable of managing and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously and to a high standard, both autonomously and as part of a team.- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.

Desirable- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.- Experience in video editing for social, using relevant software & techniques (CapCut, shoot for edit)
