Working Hours: 4 On 4 Off Days and Night shifts


Pay rate:
£12.06 p/hr

Logistics People are currently recruiting Transport Clerks to join our Team in Coventry, ESL


What does working as a Transport Clerk for Logistics People involve?

Main Resposibilities and Objectives:

  • To ensure that the despatching/loading module is kept up to date in accordance with the site processes
  • Create customer orders on GTS system accurately and ensure correctly rated
  • Grouping deliveries together on GTS
  • Efficiently and accurately despatch deliveries with any relevant delivery paperwork or other required information
  • Debrief all drivers at the end of their shift, ensure all deliveries are completed
  • To ensure the delivery point and any necessary customer or 3rd party contact are made aware of late deliveries or loading delays
  • Liaise with drivers on route/on delivery where required
  • To escalate issues to the Transport Supervisor where unable to resolve
  • Monitor and action any driver line calls for the depot
  • Liaise with the onsite planner to make sure all deliveries are collected on time
  • Ensuring the trailer check is completed and uploaded to the intranet with full details of all VOR'S
  • Reporting and defects with trailers and vehicles on site.
  • Ensure drivers are completing their pre use checks on Microlise.
  • Liaise with shunter drivers ensuring the correct trailers are in the correct yard.
  • External
  • Contract Hauliers, Fleet Maintainers and Driver Agencies.

Statutory Duties

  • Do not recklessly interfere with anything provided by the employer or others in the interests of health, safety, or welfare.
  • Bring to the attention of the Retail General Manager any perceived short comings in health and safety arrangements, situations, or processes that you consider to be serious, or which may present danger to you or others.
  • Do not undertake or request others to undertake any works for which you/they do not hold the required competency or authority to undertake.

Document Issue and Access Requirements

  • Access to Stobart Gateway
  • Access to relevant paper and electronic medium references

Delegated Authority

  • As defined within the Group Delegated Authorities Procedure

Qualifications:

Core

  • GCSE grade 'C' or above in Maths and English

Desirable

  • Equivalent of 5 GCSE grade 'C' or above

Experience:


Desirable

  • Experience within a similar role preferred
  • Knowledge of Drivers WTD
  • Able to effectively use Microsoft Windows package (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to follow predefined steps, methods, or approaches but with the ability to modify and adapt when required

Performance Management Responsibilites:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • High levels of flexibility, commitment, and motivation
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Capable of operating with limited supervision within fixed guidelines
  • Team Orientateda

Technical Skills:

  • Good keyboard skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook an advantage

  • As defined within core competence and responsibilities section of Job Description
