Environment and Sustainability Manager
Up to £45,000, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday 9am - 5:30pm, 20 days annual leave + Christmas shutdown + bank holidays, Medical Insurance, Life Assurance, Pension, Parking


The Role


An exciting, brand new role has been created for an Environment and Sustainability Manager to join our client, a market leading manufacturing business within the construction and office fit-out sector.

The purpose of the role will be to work closely withsenior management to drive the company to become more socially and environmentally responsible in its operation by developing, implementing and monitoring the environmental and sustainability strategies within the business as well as ensuring continued compliancewith client requirements and legislation.


  • Assist with the ongoing development of the Company's Sustainability and Net Zero Carbon Strategies and their implementation, including evaluating and reporting on the impact the Company is having on the environment and helping to minimise that impact

Thisincludes reviewing and analysing:

  • Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in order to categorise our business emissions
  • Materials used and the waste produced, including pollutants
  • Sustainable construction strategies and circular economy methodologies
  • Compliance with environmental legislation
  • Compliance with client requirements
  • Develop and manage Environment & Sustainability KPIs to produce data for improvement as well as to compile information to fulfil government reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities across the business to embrace aspects of sustainable development and help promote positive change throughout the business
  • Provide support to the Research and Development, Design and Sales teams on innovative and technically challenging projects seeking outstanding sustainability performance. This may involve being a focal point for environmental and sustainability queries,assisting with LEED, BREEAM, WELL and Ska Rating assessment requirements and collating product and material data to demonstrate sustainability performance in order to win work.
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of the environmental aspects of the Group Integrated Management System.

Requirements:


This role will suit someone with a broad understanding of sustainability in line with current and upcoming built environment trends that wants to inspire, challenge, guide and help businesses to deliver sustainability targets and accelerate the move to adecarbonised future.

We are seeking someone with a passion to deliver ambitious sustainability results with expertise in identifying, implementing and supporting ESG and sustainability initiatives and excited by the prospect of working with pioneering clientsand business teams to innovate and promote the use of sustainable products and materials into the built environment.

You will be suitably qualified by education or experience in an environmental or sustainable discipline with an in depth understanding of ESGtrends and topics, climate change, net zero, supporting standards and certifications, and legal and statutory reporting obligations, primarily within the UK, e.g.

ESOS, SECR, etc.

and Technical knowledge and experience in one or more relevant sustainabilityareas including carbon / energy, waste, responsible sourcing of materials and sustainability frameworks, e.g.

BREEAM, LEED, WELL, etc.
