Lead on work to ensure the voice of the child in need and at risk is heard and their views contribute to service delivery and development.

This will include working with experts by experience e.g. through Children in Care Councils.

Be an expert on issues relating to safeguarding in corporate parenting situations and providing professional advice and guidance to health professionals and partners where there are care coordination and care collaboration needs.

Contribute to multi
- agency and multi-professional decision making for children living with complex care needs in a critical and analytical manner, to promote the best interests of the child at all times. Work with the Designated Nurses and the wider Quality teams to support the BOB ICB to embed safeguarding into new commissioning and care models, as the BOB ICB works alongside its Integrated Care System (ICS) partners. To be the delegated lead organisational representative supporting the health system in carrying out individual case reviews. This may include contributing to child death review processes (CDOP), safeguarding children reviews, domestic homicide reviews and mental health homicide reviews, when required.


Promote and develop clear communication processes to disseminate lessons from the reviews and monitor the completion of actions, using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills to overcome significant barriers in a potentially hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere.

Support the Designated Nurses in ensuring there is a robust local training strategy for the health care sector, using the national statutory guidance and professional body recommendations in the design and delivery of effective safeguarding training, including delivering highly specialised multiagency training.

Lead on project work and audits as necessary, interpreting and presenting highly complex information to the project team creating analytical reports, summarising, and interpreting findings from local and national reviews, regularly providing updates on their progress to inform a system wide improvement.

Lead on developing practice guidance and policies across the health economy, ensuring that performance against these is audited and evaluated to ensure effectiveness.


Support the implementation of contextual safeguarding across BOB ICS and enable this approach to bring about system change in managing highly complex safeguarding risks.

Monitor and report on the work to safeguard missing children, providing assurance and oversight of governance processes. This will include regular meetings with Police and Local Authorities across BOB ICS as the health care expert.

Provide clinical expertise through safeguarding supervision to the Named Nurses for LAC and Childrens Continuing Health Care (CHC) and contribute to the provision of supervision of professionals in primary care, as required.


Provide clinical expertise through supervision and support to the Designated Clinical Officers ensuring an alignment of EHCP and LAC processes.

Create effective networks and partnerships locally and within the ICS partnership, to ensure a system wide approach to the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act as it applies to 14 25 year olds.
