Description
Poised between Primary and Secondary Care, the 3rdParty Applications team in Digital Health & Care Wales (DHCW) play a vital role in ensuring reliable, safe communications between the two domains:

Referrals for treatment or investigation are taken from the GP systems in their Practices, and transmitted to local hospitals for prioritisation and scheduling of appointments.

Updates are fed back to the Practice, allowing the patient's electronic record to be kept up-to-date. Details on medications can also be shared between GP Practice and hospital as required, to ensure consistent, safe care.

Similarly, diagnostic tests (such as blood tests) can be requested by the GP Practice electronically, and transmitted to the hospital laboratories, allowing linking to the specimens via barcodes, saving time and reducing potential errors.

Once complete, the test result is returned to the Practice for incorporation into the patient's electronic record.

We are looking for a Senior Product Specialist to manage delivery of these services as well as overseeing a significant expansion of scope to include dental and optometry practices, as well as playing a key role in the shaping of the future service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

As Senior Product Specialist you will lead the team as they significantly expand the range of services offered, moving beyond GP delivered care into Dental Care and Optometry.

You'll work closely with colleagues within the service, including DHCW as well as private contractors and commercial system suppliers to meet these objectives.

You'll be responsible for the continued provision of existing services, including:

  • Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway (WCCG)
  • GP Test Requesting (GPTR)
  • GP Links
You will also manage the transfer of another national service into the team:

  • Welsh GP Record (WGPR)

Continued delivery of these services will require effective communication with colleagues in the DHCW Primary Care team, NHS Scotland and NHS Northern Ireland.

You will manage the existing team of ten staff who deliver the current services, and oversee a significant expansion of the team to allow us to meet the new objectives.

You will lead on recruitment of these new roles.

As part of the wider Integration & Reference Team, you'll coordinate with colleagues to ensure effective overall delivery of services.

This will include Integration Specialists, Solutions Architects, Project Managers, Developers and Support staff. As part of this wider team, you'll play a key role in the delivery of new and redefined services as part of the Authority's Architecture Building Block work programme
