Great Western Academy is looking for a new Hub Leader (Lead Learning Mentor/ Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to join our fantastic SEND team.

Great Western Academy opened in September 2018 and now accommodates over 900 students in years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form.

The results of our first three A-level cohorts in summer 2021, 2022 and 2023 were excellent and enabled 98% university applicants to take up their offers, including three to Oxford and Cambridge; students have also secured prestigious apprenticeships with companies such as Airbus and Rolls Royce.

Our first GCSE results in summer 2023 showed that the progress made by the large majority of our first cohort of year 11 students has been excellent, particularly in English and Maths.

This includes students of all abilities.

Great Western Academy welcomes all students; the SEND team promotes our inclusive approach and ensures that students with additional needs are fully supported with their Education.

Our Hub Leaders need to show initiative, be well organised, proactive and conscientious.

They will be managing and coordinating the Learning Mentors that work within their hub, alongside supporting students with SEND needs in this area through targeted interventions and in-class support.

Great Western Academy supports staff career progression and additional benefits of working at GWA include:

  • Excellent CPD programme
  • State of the art facilities (including a purpose built, wellresourced student support area and staff kitchen)
  • Leading edge ICT, including a laptop provided for all staff
  • Free Medical and Wellbeing Support Service
  • Easy access to the A419 with free parking on site
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends.

We use our brand-new building and state-of-the-art facilities (including a purpose-designed SEND suite) to help achieve this, but it is the team of staff who turn our vision into reality.

If you have the proven ability to contribute to our inclusive approach in the classroom and beyond then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Ongoing training will be supported and encouraged.

Applications should be submitted by 9am Thursday 21 March 2024. Interviews will take place the following week.
