Operating within the National Radio Design and Optimisation team formulating and driving the national optimisation, feature deployment and new product introduction plan, to deliver the best possible network experience for our customers; leading national activities within the area team in preparation for public benchmarking campaigns and providing area guidance and support.

You will be the main point of contact for area teams driving actions to address performance degradations as well as effectively quantifying the uplifts in experience delivered through feature and parameter rollout.


What you'll do:

Our Regional Radio team has opportunities for driven and innovative radio engineers to provide best design to improve performance by ensuring the best possible configuration and future proofing for of our access network,


The focus as an experienced engineer will be on ensuring that Vodafone achieves the best network design, performance and coverage KPIs in the UK market.

This lead role will be in one of our Regional Radio Planning teams, allowing our marketing teams to differentiate Vodafone using these measures, in addition to keeping all existing customers satisfied within region and thus reducing churn.


Primarily the role is about delivering the 2G/3G/4G/5G radio design within the regional team, which involves understanding the current radio performance issues in terms of network KPIs and customer complaints, site design weaknesses and proposing the radio design for new sites, or solution in existing ones, to meet Vodafone performance targets.

On site visual inspections and technical reviews with Vodafone third parties and other Vodafone teams, coverage predictions with planning tools, analysis of existing hardware/antenna configurations and proposals to improve network performance, analysis of radio KPIs analysis and close interaction with Radio Optimisation, Deployment teams and Partners are the key tasks and responsibilities expected for this role.


  • Site level design including antenna configuration (location, height, models, azimuths and tilts) and hardware configuration (carriers, base band units, cabin type)
  • Coverage/Capacity analysis in a specific area to understand if current site grid and existing configurations at site level require an upgrade.
  • Lead on, or support a key work stream within the Team to bring improvement to Network design and performance.
  • Full support of the NTQ projects in your region. Produce impact statements and support ECC cases for tribunal.
  • Focus on data integrity and ensuring site configurations are managed within Cramer.
  • Driving operations to resolve regional RAN issues in the Access network.
  • Support special events planning and where necessary conduct testing of special solutions and existing network.
  • Contribution to action plans to address any issues detected with the performance of Ericsson Managed Service and/or Cornerstone deployment
  • Justification for investment in coverage or capability to meet the performance requirements
  • Clear quantification and reporting of all benefits achieved. Suitable onward communication
