EXTEND YOUR POTENTIAL WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS

We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant, preferably with a background in carbon emissions reduction, to join our team in our London office, giving you the opportunity to co-create with our experts on some of the most prestigious infrastructure programmes in the UK.

COWI UK are active on major infrastructure projects, renewable energy schemes (both onshore and offshore) and have a great reputation for our complex bridge and tunnel projects.

Working alongside engineers and environmental specialists, you'll help and advise our clients, often in very client-facing roles, coordinate and prepare sustainability input to designs for a variety of large infrastructure projects.

COWI have a particular focus on carbon emissions reduction, biodiversity enhancement and optimising community impacts in our projects.

With this in mind, you will advise on how our designs can best incorporate carboon reduction, wider sustainability aims and environmental considerations.

You should relish client facing work, bringing new ideas to the design process and preparing high quality documentation.


On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for:
Coordinating our sustainability workload on large, multidisciplinary design projects, often in client facing roles
Developing COWI's approach to carbon reduction across the company, through the use of PAS 2080 compliant systems
Assisting with decision making on project designs, where sustainability considerations have to be weighed against cost, programme and safety concerns
Contributing to the preparation of sustainability reports
Liaison with the Project Manager, project partners, design team, client representatives and stakeholders
Contributing to the consent consultation process
Supporting pursuit of relevant business development opportunities and input into bids and tenders as required

To do well in this position, you should have good experience of providing high quality sustainability analysis, while identifying the best solutions in challenging environments.

A key aspect will be working out how to build emissions reduction and sustainability into engineering design.

You should enjoy creating interesting and innovative solutions to impacts, while always striving to create genuine opportunities for sustainable outcomes.

You must be an open and honest person who is eager to collaborate with others and keep our clients engaged.

You'll pursue new insights and constantly explore new ways to improve COWI's sustainability offering, while supporting and respecting our clients, your colleagues and the planet we live on.

Furthermore, you'll:

Have a Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Geosciences, Sustainability or demonstrable equivalent experience
Possess experience in large multi discipline civil engineering projects (tunnels, bridges, marine works, offshore wind)
Have working knowledge and hands on experience on emissions reduction, climate change, biodiversity and community impact assessment, the preparation of sustainability statements and environmental statements
Have a demonstrable understanding of UK DCO and planning legislation and policies
Have solid English written and verbal communication skills
Have the inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team
Be commercially aware with a good knowledge of contracts
