Mary Ann Evans Hospice is an adult community hospice in North Warwickshire.

As an independent charity, we provide palliative and end-of-life care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and those that matter most to them.


Our services include Hospice at Home, Wellbeing Centre, Family Support and Bereavement, Lymphoedema care, and Rapid Response (a shared service with South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust).

We work closely with our community and hospital colleagues from the NHS, social services, local care homes, and other voluntary providers.

Job Summary:


The People Business Partner will support and drive a People Strategy that is fully aligned with the delivery of our strategic plan, working to enhance and sustain a culture that helps to position Mary Ann as the employer of choice.

This includes employee well-being and satisfaction, staff equity, diversity and inclusion, HR/People compliance, employee relations, organisational development, and staff

development and talent management. People Business Partner will work closely with the leadership team, staff, and volunteers across the organisation.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


People

  • Drive initiatives and services that support the Hospice in organisational development; talent; performance management; learning and skills development; employee relations; employee engagement and reward and benefits.
  • Maintain HR/People and Volunteering policies and processes, aligning outputs to support the delivery of our strategy.
  • Work with the leadership team on succession planning, growing our own by identifying and developing talent.
  • Engage with both staff and volunteers to support the understanding of and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and management, including supporting line managers as required, in all employee relations matters, absence management, grievance and disciplinary matters, and performance management.
  • Coach and develop managers to be competent and consistent in their execution of the HR/People and Volunteering policies and processes.
  • Ensure regular staff and volunteer satisfaction surveys are conducted and take the lead on ensuring the delivery of any resulting action plans.
  • Provide direct line management to a small team of staff including recruitment and performance management.
  • Identify and coach or facilitate effective training and development for managers in people matters to support them in their roles.

Governance

  • Provide administrative support and management of the People subcommittee and ensure the leadership team and board of trustees are kept up to date with progress on objectives, strategic aims, and all Peoplerelated risks to Mary Ann.
  • Manage our HR/People Database and ensure it is used to its full potential by all staff.
  • Work closely with the leadership Team and Board of Trustees to achieve the aims of the hospice, providing reports and statistical data to shape our decisionmaking.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring all People related work is carried out in line with current data protection legislation and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Culture

  • Role model Mary Ann's values and work together with the Leadership Team in maintaining the desired culture of the Hospice, ensuring the values remain embedded across all the hospice processes.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to maintain a culture and environment where Mary Ann's people feel motivated, and which promotes the learning and development of staff and volunteers.
  • Develop personal and professional knowledge through critical selfappraisal, networking with other HR and Volunteering professionals, partners, and Hospices, and attendance at relevant courses and conferences.
  • Improve the initiatives and culture of volunteering across the whole organisation, empowering teams to support volunteers to be the best they can
