The role


We're seeking an individual to join our team as a Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Welfare Advisor (HSEQW) for the Suffolk contract.

This role will primarily focus on ensuring health, safety, environmental, quality, and welfare standards are upheld within the contract, with additional support required for other regional projects as necessary.


REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:


  • Demonstrating a solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation and implementing it effectively.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal management systems within the company.
  • Providing internal support on HSEQW matters.
  • Reporting findings to both the HSEQW Manager and General Manager.
  • Compiling monthly statistic reports to General Manager for presentation to relevant authorities, including the council.
  • Maintaining open communication across all levels of the company, from site workers to senior directors.
  • Acting as a safety advocate and collaborating with staff representatives.
  • Investigating incidents and documenting findings.
  • Developing and submitting tailored safety plans for each site, such as RAMS, CoSHH, and lift plans, for client review and approval.
  • Proficiency in RAMS SSOW and conducting toolbox talks on safety topics.
  • Compiling reports for presentation to relevant authorities, including the council.
  • Representing the company as the primary contact for HSEQW matters with clients.
  • Prioritising safety, delivery, commercial aspects, and client and customer excellence.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Holding a recognised safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or BSC).
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong abilities in investigation and auditing.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience working effectively within teams and autonomously onsite.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Interest in legal and regulatory standards.
Valid driving licence.

  • Flexibility to work the occasional night shift if required.
  • Understanding of Environmental laws.
  • Familiarity with lift plan requirements.
  • Track record of effectively reporting both issues and successes.
