An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3/4 development post. This post is a full time permanent position within North Cumbria Speech and Language Therapy department.

The post holder will be expected to have achieved the Assistant Practitioner qualification within 2 years of taking up the post.

This qualification will involve some distance learning as well as work placed learning supported by a mentor within the Speech and Language Therapy Department.


Speech and Language Therapy have secured funding to develop a new service into improving care into North Cumbria Care Homes This post will support a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to develop the new service to improve eating and drinking in the care home population and to help prevent hospital admissions.

This post will also have a role working alongside the Speech and Language Therapist to to work on improving communication and implementing a training scheme to care home staff.

Regular lone working will be required within the scope of practice with training, regular supervision and support from the Speech and Language Therapists in the team.

This post will involve being face to face with patients in a multiple of locations and indirectly with care home staff via telephone or telemedicine platforms.

£18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

£38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
