RPS Site Investigation and Survey (SI&S) is looking for a
Senior Geoscience Consultant to work with our
Energy Sector clients on
Marine site characterisation campaigns (geophysical, geotechnical and environmental).


As part of a team of specialists based out of either
Aberdeen or
Woking the role will report into the Technical Director, working with the wider SI&S team across the UK and globally.

The Role:


As Senior Geoscience Consultant you will undertake the design, preparation, planning, project management and ultimately the interpretation and delivery of the final survey results.


Key responsibilities:


  • Represent RPS and our clients as a technical authority on marine site characterisation activities, paying particular attention to current industry methodologies and expertise
  • Project management and delivery of marine site characterisation campaigns on behalf of energy clients in both renewables and O&G sectors. This includes contractor, quality, and HSSE management
  • Preparation of technical documents including scopes of work, QHSE and briefing documents
  • Attending mobilisation kickoff meetings with the survey contractor and client as required
  • Good clear communication with the client throughout the project lifecycle adhering to the project objectives, timelines and budgets to ensure absolute delivery
  • Financial and resource forecasting along with invoicing
  • QC of interpretation and reporting provided by the survey contractor(s) and integration with other available datasets
  • Compilation of publicly available data in the relevant geographical area or in analogous geological settings including published papers and freely available GIS datasets from relevant portals
  • Production of a range of technical reports and studies to support Energy Sector projects, such as geohazard studies, desk top studies and ground models
  • Presentation of reports to clients and engaging in discussions on results with client teams
  • Support in the preparation of technical papers and presentations for industry forums/conferences, leading to presentation in this role if desirable

Who are we ideally looking for?

  • Significant experience within a consulting, professional services or marine survey organisation as a geophysicist or similar
  • Excellent knowledge of current marine site characterisation methodologies (planning, acquisition, processing, interpretation & reporting) and appropriate legislation / guidance
  • Technical expert with the ability to project manage and project direct complex, multidisciplinary site investigations within the energy sector, including oil and gas and offshore wind activities
  • Familiarity with industrystandard interpretation/GIS software packages such as IHS Kingdom and Petrel
  • A good understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental industry requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling engagement with clients and contractors alike
