Radiology provides a wide range of imaging investigations within various imaging modalities, including plain film, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Procedures.


The role involves assisting, chaperoning, and preparing patients for imaging examinations and working alongside a multi-disciplinary team consisting of consultant radiologists, radiographers, and sonographers.


The post holder will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic to supervise, teach and support your team of Imaging Department Assistants.


The Imaging Directorate provides 24/7 service delivery, and we are continually investing in the upgrade and modernisation of our imaging equipment.

We have a solid support network of staff who will teach and guide you to complete the tasks expected of you.

Applicants must meet Trust numeracy and literacy requirements.

Applicants must have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Trust based competency or be willing to undertake additional training.

Please note evidence of relevant NHS experience is essential.


Main duties, tasks & skills required:

You will demonstrate excellent standards of record keeping and maintain confidentiality, as well as demonstrating high standards of communication and self-presentation as a representative of the trust and Imaging department.


You will undertake the daily supervision of the IDA team in conjunction with other team leaders and Radiographers, ensuring rosters provide adequate staffing levels in each area.

The Imaging Department Team Leader will undertake the training of staff in the specific role and duties expected. Regularly reviewing the ability and performance of staff to the agreed standard.


You will support the training of staff in Department Inductions and organise and provide records of staff attendance at mandatory training, organising the training of new staff to agreed competency levels.

You should have excellent communication skills and computer literacy.

After appropriate training you will undertake Band 2 IDA appraisals and participate in interview selection panels.


You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and be able to work varied shifts across a 7 day week from 8 am to 8 pm.

In-house training will be provided.
