Motor Claims Handler - Hybrid Role - Southampton

Full time position - 37 hours per week (Flexible work patterns available)

Working hours:37 hours per week, flexible shifts Mon-Fri between 07:00 - 18:00 (No weekend work)

The Motor Claims Handler will provide administrative and operational support associated with insurance claims relating to Fleet Incidents throughout Saint-Gobain in the UK.


Duties:


  • Assist in the processing of First Notification of Losses (FNOL) within set timescales
  • Achieve statutory compliance relevant to your specific area of responsibility
  • Negotiating liability and costs settlements with internal and external customers
  • Ensure accident report forms are received from drivers / branches and accurately completed, within set timescales. Liaising with branch / transport managers and drivers.
  • Confirm employees hold correct authority to operate specific vehicles / machinery. Reporting any infringements to the compliance team / senior management.
  • Accurately maintain the FleetWave Database and all other relevant electronic records
  • Manage enquiries from user departments and seek adequate resolutions where problems exist
  • Follow functional procedures accurately and identify improvement opportunities

Essential Requirements:


  • Good telephone and customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as well as being a team player
  • Ability to negotiate and agree case settlements
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Flexible with ability to deal with high volumes of throughput
  • Able to work well in team environment


  • PC literate

  • MS Office
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information

Desirable Requirements:


  • Some experience of motor claim handling or related claims handling
  • Basic working knowledge of insurance practices and processes
  • Basic working knowledge of road traffic laws
