RG Freight Recruitment are working on behalf of a well known freight forwarding client to find a
Customs Broker to work in their
Dartford office.

This client is one of the world's largest independent forwarders specialising in providing the oil and gas sector with best in class service.

By offering global forwarding, project logistics, material management and consultancy services, they are able to offer genuinely bespoke service to each of their many clients.

Responsibilities:

Prepare the necessary import documentation such as certificates of origin and cargo control documents.
Process customs declarations through software in accordance with the customers instructions
Liaising with officials in various agencies to ensure goods are cleared through customs or quarantine
Assisting with the onboarding of new clients
Provide support to UK Operational Teams to realise their objectives ???????
Accurately update any key milestones that maybe required by our clients via our internal systems
Liaise with our Freight Forwarders throughout the UK to advise when goods are cleared for import/export so that they can arrange for transportation, warehousing or product distribution of imported or exported goods
Calculating and processing duties and taxes to be paid and may be required to sign documents under a Power of Attorney on behalf of clients. You will also pay or arrange for payment of taxes and duties
Entering details onto specialised customs software
Allocating the correct licence depending on type of goods being imported
Advising customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other customs related matters

The Person

Solid work experience as a Customs Broker/Clerk in a freight forwarding environment (Ideally 5 years +)
Sound knowledge of import and export customs procedures and policies
Fully conversant with import and export laws and regulations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Great attention to detail with high levels of accuracy

Salary:
£35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
