We currently have over 300 employees operating out of 8 distribution depots, 3 manufacturing sites and our Head Office at the Port of Tilbury.


What is the main purpose of the role?


As a Transport Planner at Falcon Timber, you will play a crucial role in planning, optimising & developing transportation systems to ensure efficient movement of goods and vehicles.

You will collaborate with internal teams, clients, and hauliers to design and implement effective transport strategies. Your expertise will help minimize congestion, reduce emissions, and enhance overall transportation infrastructure.


What are the key areas of responsibility?

  • Day to dayrouting and scheduling of the group customer orders and inter branch transfers using a mixture of internal transport and chosen vendors.
  • Assist in analysing existing transportation networks, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements to optimise traffic flow and reduce congestion.
  • Develop and implement efficient routes for the transportation of goods, considering factors such as distance, traffic patterns, and customer delivery times.
  • Evaluate the environmental impact of transportation activities and recommend ecofriendly solutions, promoting sustainable practices.
  • Utilise data analysis tools to gather and interpret transportation data, identify trends, and make datadriven recommendations to Group Transport Manager for improvements.
  • Work closely with Group Transport Manager, clients, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, assess needs, and develop customised transport solutions.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

  • Previous experience in transport planning in the UK and an understanding of transport planning methods is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in presenting data clearly.
  • Effective communication skills across a range of stakeholders.
  • Problemsolving mindset and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of transportation modelling software and GIS tools.
  • An understanding of traffic engineering principles.

Pay:
£28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
