We are a manufacturing organisation that designs and manufactures a wide range of electrical distribution equipment that is used throughout the electrical distribution and supply industry.
Our products are used across the globe by a number of electricity supply utilities, satisfying their demanding requirements on many varied network designs and in wide ranging climatic conditions.
Job Purpose
Responsible for the end to end management of securing the supply of parts from a UK, European & Global supplier base in a timely and cost-efficient manner to meet the needs of the business.
Principles Accountabilities
- Liaise with the Master Production Scheduler (MPS) to ensure the supply plan and scheduling plans are synergised and metric reporting and other requirements are finalised.
- Liaise with the Planning, Purchasing & Supply Chain Managers to support supply chain processes related to agreed demand and customer requirements.
- Ensure raw material needs for the production plan are raised through purchase orders and facilitate throughout the whole process until finished goods.
- Assist with track the raw material inventory levels, WIP levels and finished good levels through the ERP system.
- Using a variety of methodologies MRP, ROP & BTO.
- Providing feedback to the MPS around any concerns, issues or opportunities related to the plants planning/scheduling or on any slowmoving, blocked and obsolete materials.
- Support the MPS to ensure optimal inventory levels are utilised for all sites.
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and other lean manufacturing incentives.
- Comply with company Health, Safety and Environment legislations and polices.
- Responsible for covering other material controllers in their abcents and when required.
- Any other associated duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Supply Chain.
Nature and Scope
- Maintain sufficient inventory to support customer demand whilst reducing exposure to over stock, ensuring the stockholding policy is upheld, reorder levers, safety stocks etc.
- Raise purchase orders in line with Planning and production requirements, to ensure that all components and materials are available for the planned production / requirement date, considering supplier lead times, quality, and cost.
- Processing purchase order acknowledgements and populating the database with relevant information.
- Expedite materials and components from external vendors to meet the planning and production requirements, ensuring materials arrive on time.
- Where supplier delivery schedules do not support our requirements, proactively escalate or locate alternative sources of material supply.
- Escalate and communicate potential supply problems to the Planning, Purchasing & Supply Chain Managers.
- Maintain existing supplier relationships, especially on any long lead time items, high usage items and high value items.
- Be an excellent team player; keeps the organisation's vision, mission and values at the forefront of decisionmaking and action.
- Be able to work within deadlines / under pressure, understands problems solving.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to utilize ERP information and analyse results to effectively manage your workload, including the ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines.
Qualifications/ Experience
- Be highly numerate and analytical / detailed approach with good English language and good verbal and written communication skills. (Desirable)
- Experience in a Supply Chain or planning/purchasing position.
- Experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment. (Desirable)
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Specifically Excel.
- Knowledge of EFACS system. (Desirable)
