Role Purpose:
We are looking for a Network Engineer to work on projects and to implement, maintain and support our growing network infrastructure.
You will be part of a team of Network Engineers based in our Edinburgh city centre office and reporting to the Network Manager.
The responsibilities of the team will be closely integrated with those of other teams within the Infrastructure Technology department.As such, it is pivotal you are able to form links with other technical team members in IT and with the desktop supportteams.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Network support for Group offices \ Data Centres globally.
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers etc)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including patches, hot fixes and security updates.
- Monitor network performance for stability and availability.
- Monitor system resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support and troubleshooting to resolve network issues.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Produce detailed documentation
- Proven handson network engineering experience supporting LAN and WAN technologies at both branch office and data centres, specifically Cisco technologies.
- Deep understanding of networking routing protocols.
- Knowledge of Checkpoint & Palo Alto Firewalls, IPS devices, Cisco Wireless Technologies (Meraki), Citrix Netscaler and SD-WAN technologies both onprem and cloud.
- Proven experience working with large scale International MPLS carriers and Internet Service Providers for both WAN, LAN and Internet services.
- Handson experience of network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Solarwinds NPM, Netflow, Cacti and Wireshark.
- Knowledge of change management processes.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and interaction with end users, vendors, and technical staff are required.
- Valid CCNP, CCSA or higher certification
