Cambridgeshire and Peterborough's Integrated Care System (ICS) is set to launch its Shared Care Record in 2023.

The Shared Care Record will provide read-only connected care records, drawing on data from health and care systems across our ICS partners, and is being delivered in two phases:

  • Phase one will focus on joining up GP, mental health and community data in a clear, concise view.
  • Phase two will expand to encompass acute and social care data and will provide a more sophisticated view to allow for a larger amount of data to be read easily.


We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Head of Service to work as part of a dynamic team leading the development, delivery and monitoring of all elements of customer service, ensuring that they meet the needs of our partners across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS) and support on-going transformation set out in the system-wide digital strategy.

This role has overall accountability for the Shared Care Record "BAU" team supporting Cambridgeshire and Peterborough


We are seeking a Head of service who is seeking their next challenge to deliver the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS Shared Care Record.


We would be interested in applicants who have:

  • Significant relevant experience in health service or other major large-scale customer service-oriented organisation with proven experience in the delivery of an IT service management across large complex multi-organisation structure
  • Significant experience at senior management level
  • Proven people management experience with evidence of leading through change
  • Significant experience of contract and supplier management
  • Proven experience of managing and prioritising multiple workloads and meeting deadlines

  • Strategic development and implementation of service functions to support the requirements of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS customers and partners
  • Set strategic direction of service in liaison with customers and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior managers and clinicians in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough ICS including other agencies (e.g. local authorities & third sector)
  • Development and leadership of service strategy and delivery linked to the Digital Strategy and wider system transformation
  • Strategic development of shared support function across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for Shared Care Record
  • Strategic development of Service Operations function including greater use of automation and new proactive support capabilities building on a strong foundation of the current highly responsive support service.
  • Take the lead in contractual negotiations with suppliers to achieve best value for money and effective contractual cover for IT systems
  • Chair regular meeting with Shared Care Record 3rd party support suppliers to monitor and maintain service level agreements
  • Ensure that IT standards and policy are adhered too and manage the provision of reports to breaches of policy to director or chief exec level as appropriate and motivate support managers and their teams, prioritising and reviewing their work.
  • Present persuasive arguments to suppliers, staff and/or support groups, engineering enthusiasm and commitment to the work programme of C&P ICS services and any new developments.
  • Analyse complex information to make decisions or recommendations to senior managers/executives, on priorities, direction and risks.
