Job Description:
Please note this is a part time role, working 13 hours per week - Monday and Friday from 09:00 - 17:00.
The purpose of this post is to manage sample receipt team and the daily intake of samples into the microbiology laboratory
Main duties to include:
- Maintaining a professional and courteous relationship with customers.
- Understanding the testing requests from the customer.
- Following the Procedures for sample reception and booking in.
- Managing the paperwork from customers and filing paperwork correctly.
- Answering the phone and speaking to customers.
- Dealing with customers who bring samples into the laboratory.
- High standard of accuracy and legibility in typing and handwriting.
- Lending a hand in the laboratory at peak times, e.g. labelling plates
- Handling the receipt of goods into the laboratory and checking goods against purchase orders.
- Keeping the laboratory technicians and laboratory management aware of requests for collections and changes to the day.
- Any other reasonable business as designated by the Lab Manager or Technical Manager.
- Ensuring all relevant areas are kept clean and tidy in accordance to Laboratory Guidelines.
- Adhering to companies policies.
- Contribute to the ongoing progression of the Laboratory.
Qualifications:
- Educated to GCSE, including Maths & English.
- Excellent knowledge MS Office programs.
- Experience and knowledge of laboratory operations and activities.
- Competence in IT, including LIMS, spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience of working with a broad range of internal and external customers.
- Commitment to meeting customers expectation.
