Financial Control Regulation and Risk Specialist

As a Barclays Financial Controls Regulation and Risk Specialist, you will assist the Business Banking Financial Crime team to protect both Barclays and our customers from the social and economic impact of Financial Crime.

You will ensure full compliance with both the letter and spirit of Regulation, Standards and Policy, by ensuring that ensuring that we operate within the confines of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

This will involve developing, maintaining, and managing the FC risk and control accountabilities and oversight.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing, maintaining, and managing the Financial Crime risk and control responsibilities and oversight across Business Banking and its suppliers
  • Collaborating with Barclay UK Compliance and Group Financial Crime, along with Change Functions, and Shared Service, to ensure full compliance
  • Owning a range of initiatives that will assure our compliance with regulations, Group Policies and Standards
  • Ensuring that we operate within the confines of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF)
  • Being the first point of contact for all business support activities related to Policy, RCSA oversight and completion, education and training
  • Being responsible for leading the annual Fin Crime Risk Assessment for Barclays UK Business Banking including gap analysis and risk reporting
  • Managing the Financial Crime and Fraud Control Mapping and assessment across BUK Business Banking

What we're looking for:


  • Experience in high level advisory, making recommendations regarding risk assessment and controls testing with the Head of Financial Crime
  • Experience of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and underlying control frameworks which help keep our business safe
  • Experience of risk identification and control mapping/assessment
  • Experience of working within a regulatory and control environment

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • An ICA Diploma in relevant Financial Crime discipline (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experienced in dealing with multiple stakeholders in different business functions who have different objective such as Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Legal
  • Knowledge and experience of the Financial Services industry and the Systems and Controls regulations

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links.

With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.


Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.

This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff.

The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.

Barclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000. With great transport links to Birmingham Grand Central and Snowhill train stations as well as the local metro. Our office has a dedicated staff coffee shop and deli and break out areas for staff. There is also a presentation theatre for client and staff events. Our office boasts a great working environment as well as opportunities to network across the city.
