My client is seeking a Legal Accounts Assistant to join their establishing team initially on a 12-week temporary basis, and then could be extended to an FTC or even made permanent.

The role will report to the Financial Controller and will assist the ClientLedger Controller.

The Legal Accounts Assistant is responsible for completing tasks relating to the Client Accounts and will be the primary contact for international cases.


Responsibilities include (but is not limited to):

  • General Assistance_
  • Daily bank checks, including checking receipts into all the client and office accounts throughout the day.
  • Receipts_
  • Identifying receipts daily;
  • Acknowledging receipt of funds; and
  • Allocating receipt of funds to Case Accounts in the Client Ledger.
  • Case Management for International Cases_
  • Being the primary contact for international cases;
  • Closing cases and making sure financials are in order;
  • Reconciling individual case accounts with financial summaries; and
  • Producing sales billing to clients, created from analysis of staff timebased ledgers.
  • Weekly Client Ledger Payment Run for International Payments (and assisting with the UK when possible)
  • Checking that fee notes are accurate and reflect agreed terms;
  • Ensuring sufficient funds are available in relation to the case;
  • Coordinating foreign exchange transactions for international payments (UK only);
  • Creating payments via online banking (UK only);
  • Batching the payment run (UK only); and
  • Recording the payment run in the Client Ledger system.

Abilities and Skills

  • Experience in a legal or other professional environment;
  • Good written English and telephone manner;
  • Have strong numeracy and financial literacy skills;
  • Be alert to potential risk and compliance issues at an early stage;
  • Have excellent attention to detail;
  • Possess strong time management and administrative skills;
  • Be punctual and meet deadlines consistently;
  • Be able to work well under pressure, proactively prioritise tasks, multitask and be reliable;
  • Be a selfmotivated teamplayer;
  • Have an organised approach to work;
  • Take responsibility for their own actions and demonstrate drive and enthusiasm in everyday work;
  • Achieve planned work and set own performance standards; and
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others in the team as well as externally.
