An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with a passion for charity work that has both retail experience and Microsoft Office and computer administrative skills to support the smooth running of our wonderful charity shops situated in the local community.


Join our small, friendly team and provide the vital office back up and coordination for our shops and their teams of staff and volunteers.


The role is a flexible 15 hours across the week, based largely at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity Head Office but, also, requires regular visits to each shop.


Your role of Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity is to enhance the experience for patients and carers by fundraising and investing in state-of-the-art equipment, innovative research, staff training and the creation of a welcoming positive environment for our patients.

You will be responsible for managing our Charity Shop teams in Leigh, Westcliff and Hadleigh.

You will ensure the profitable and efficient running of all the Shops and source opportunities to increase retail income.

You will provide strategic direction for each Shop and contribute to the business plan ensuring the promotion of the Charity in all aspects of work in a professional and efficient manner including guaranteeing the highest standards of customer care.

Encouraging growth in the Shops' turnover, supporting the paid staff and volunteers, being responsible for accurate financial and administrative procedures and to ensure high standards of displays throughout the shops.


  • To maximize sales and effectively manage expenditure to achieve profit targets
  • Daytoday management of the charity shop supervisors and voluntary staff
  • To support and deliver key activities from the charity retail business plan
  • To identify areas for growth and promote the charity in the local community
