THE HUNSLET CLUB

Job Title Caretaker

Reporting to Operations/Finance Manager


Location The Hunslet Club, Hillidge Road, Leeds, LS10 1BP


Role
To manage the Club premises including security, cleaning, pitches, utilities and general maintenance repairs.


Management Supervision and Guidance
You will be responsible to the Operations/Finance Manager

Duties and responsibilities


Premises Maintenance - Scope

  • Main Hall and main area
  • Pitches/outdoor courts
  • Classrooms/Office space
  • Fitness Suite/Boxing Gym/Changing Rooms
  • Store rooms/areas/boiler room
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Communal areas (corridors/.staircases/toilets)
  • Car Park/lawn area

Security/H&S

  • Opening/closing of the premises/shutters/gates (including activating/deactivating of alarm)
  • Ensure building secured windows and doors are closed/locked before locking up
  • Check security of building when alarm goes off unexpectedly maybe unsociable hours
  • Inspections of fire exits to ensure closed and access is not obstructed
  • Facilitate fire drills every 6 months
  • To monitor and undertake checks in relation to water hygiene and emergency lighting.
  • Weekly testing of the fire alarm

Cleaning

  • Ensure standards of cleanliness are met at all time
  • Ensure the function rooms are cleaned and set up as per customer contract before events
  • Manage the cleaning staff
  • Devise cleaning rotas for cleaning staff
  • Oversee the disposal of Club waste and waste collection services
  • Manage stock control of cleaning materials and the safe storage of any hazardous chemicals
  • Clean all windows on a monthly basis
  • Using industrial buffing machines on floors daily
  • Strip and polish floors
  • General cleaning of the club

Utilities

  • Switch on/off heating & lighting each day/night ensuring lights are turned off when not in use
  • Manage the economic use of utilities at all times through weekly checks report meter readings at the end of each month

General Maintenance

  • Carry out minor repairs within the premises in line with appropriate health & safety guidelines.
The following are examples of general maintenance tasks and not an exhaustive list:


  • Electrical replace plugs, fuses, lightbulbs, fluorescent tubes etc
  • Plumbing replace tap washers, remove blockages, maintain toilet overflow system, bleed radiators etc
  • Joinery hang pictures/other display materials, fitting of doors/locks, sanding down of surfaces
  • Undertake temporary repairs to broken windows/doors following breakins
  • Repair minor breaks in vinyl/carpet to prevent it becoming a hazard
  • Laying of carpets, carpet tiles & vinyl in small areas
  • Replace/secure broken or rising floor tiles up to 1sq yd
  • Small painting jobs internal & external and any painting jobs to be undertaken as a result of repairs carried out
  • Removal of any graffiti
  • Undertake small glazing repairs
  • Keep thoroughfares/ footpaths/pitches clear of litter/debris at all times
  • Remove leaves and other debris from gutters & fall pipes & drains to ensure effective system flows
  • To carry out gritting, salt spreading, snow clearing around the school
  • Remove & rehang curtains, including fixing/repairing of fittings
  • Replace/make good damaged ceiling tiles
  • Oversee the laundering of linen/towels used at inhouse functions

General

  • To be flexible with working hours to suit the needs of the club
  • Contribute to the wider life of The Hunslet Club
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post or which may from time to time be reasonably determined by the Operations Manager or Chief Executive Officer
  • Adhere to Club policies at all times, with particular reference to Health & Safety, Equal Opps & Child Protection
  • To share our clubs ethos. Be friendly and approachable.

The Hunslet Club reserve the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time in accordance to the needs of the business

Salary:
From £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
