CARERS WELLBEING OFFICER

SALARY GRADE:
£21,500 per annum pro rata**



HOURS:
Part time: 30 (full time equivalent is 37 hours.)


Leicestershire County Council have initiated a Hospital Discharge Grant Scheme for any cared for person living in the Leicestershire County.


  • If you look after, care for or support someone who wouldn't be able to manage everyday life without your help, and you are not employed to do it, then you are an unpaid carer. If they live within Leicestershire County and have been discharged from Hospital within the last 4 weeks you may be entitled to a Hospital Discharge Grant to help cover costs.


We are looking for someone to speak to identified carers and discuss Grant criteria to give help to those who are caring for others.

The Grants cover costs such as loss of earnings, Travel expenses, Cleaning, House work amongst others.


Main tasks

  • Having complex conversations with carers around the needs of the cared for
  • Having an awareness of the challenges carers face following the cared for
- being discharged from hospital

  • Keeping accurate records of conversation and stats
  • Ability to promote the service and build good working relationships with professionals
  • To respond to all carer's referrals
  • To maintain the carers database
  • To ensure the website is up to date with any relevant changes or new information
  • To attend events organised by outside agencies where appropriate
  • To act as a resource and a contact point to other professionals working in the health and social care fields including other organisations who may require information and advice relating to carer's issues
  • Carers and service users are to be treated with courtesy and sensitivity, their cultural, religious and linguistic needs to be taken into consideration where appropriate
  • To champion and promote VASL's services in a positive image
  • To work within VASL's framework
  • Any other duties required by VASL or your line manager

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 8 months

Part-time hours: 30 per week

£21,500.00 per year
