Barking & Dagenham College is a vibrant and highly successful College in East London with circa 12,500 students, circa 500 established staff and a turnover of £35m.

The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients.

We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2.

The College trains circa 850 apprentices, including circa 110 higher level apprenticeships and delivers work place training, traineeships and higher level technical and professional specialisms up to MBA level in our 4 strategic vocational areas; Construction, Design & Management; Engineering including mechatronics & robotics; Digital Creative; Health & Social Care and Leadership and Management across the pan London occupational sectors.

We have some exciting opportunities available at Barking and Dagenham College.

Barking & Dagenham College is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated
Attendance and Welfare Officer.

This role will be assisted by our Pastoral teams and will report to the Head of Learner Services. This role will include liaison with families, college staff and other agencies on attendance and welfare related issues.

The role will also undertake:

  • analysis of attendance trends and patterns, monitoring and reporting on progress against College attendance targets, ensuring college compliance with statutory requirements under the attendance code of practice and DfE guidelines.


Experience of working in a pastoral team within an education setting or related environment, in planning and delivering specific and individual interventions, and of communicating and engaging with young people, their families, schools, educational services and establishments and other statutory and voluntary agencies, are all essential.


Being able to work collaboratively and constructively as part of a team is highly desirable, as is experience of analysing data and effective use of ICT packages.
