Job Purpose

An opportunity has arisen to join a small, busy, in-demand Communications & Engagement team in the Estates Directorate at the University of Glasgow for up to six months.

Working together with the Communications and Engagement Lead and Communications and Engagement Assistant, the post holder will provide hands-on support for both internal and external communications.

During this time, the team will be focus on delivering a number of key initiatives, including University Services Festive Market, promoting Colleague Engagement Survey and supporting Workspace Futures 2030 projects.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit impactful communication content, including intranet updates, website pages, social media posts, PR stories and newsletters.
  • Assist in the planning of content for campaigns which support the communication plans and content calendar.
  • Provide operational and administrative support for various communications and employee engagement activities within the Estates Directorate, including the coordination of staff events such as the Festive Market, Lunch and Learn sessions, and social gatherings.
  • Respond to communication enquiries in a timely and efficient manner, answering questions, providing further information, finding solutions to problems and connecting with colleagues.
  • Assist with colleague sentiment analysis, including Colleague Engagement Survey, pulse surveys, listening sessions and focus groups.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications campaigns and make recommendations for future campaigns.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:


A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role, or Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent.

A2 Working knowledge of social media and website content management platforms.


Desirable:

B1 Knowledge of marketing and communications theory and best practice.


Skills

Essential:

C1 Proven ability to generate original and innovative ideas in delivering creative campaigns.

C2 Excellent copywriting skills, with an ability to write clear, compelling and accurate copy in a range of styles and for a range of channels and platforms.

C3 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to communicate with individuals at all levels.
C4 Strong IT skills in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook.
C5 Able to communicate effectively with other services and colleagues and work as part of a team.
C6 Excellent organisational skills - self-sufficient in prioritising, organising work streams, attention to detail and planning ahead.


Experience

Essential:

E1 Copywriting experience within a PR, communications or marketing context.
E2 Experience of working in pressurised, fast paced environments.
E3 Experience in either communications, writing, marketing, digital engagement, journalism or a related field.


Desirable:

F1 Experience of working in a Higher Education institution.
F2 Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere Pro.
F3 Experience of planning, launching, managing, and analysing marketing campaigns.
F4 Experience of creating and editing video content.


Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 5, £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours p/w) and fixed term for up to 6 months.
