We're looking for a Commercial Officer (Contracts Management) to join our team based from Helensburgh, Scotland.

Our 9/75 work pattern gives you every other Friday off and whilst predominantly onsite some hybrid working will be available in this role.


The Commercial Officer (Contracts Management) will perform contracts management functions across the spectrum of actions associated with providing supplies and services, from capture through proposal, contract award, and all phases of contract administration.


This vital role will be providing business advice and guidance whilst coordinating with other functions to effectively manage a breadth of responsibilities, including contract solicitations / capture, negotiations, and contract terms, including fulfillmentof related obligations.

Ensure contractual compliance with all laws and regulations, and adherence to Delegation of Authority and approval requirements for proposals and contractual actions.

Lead and support audits, as appropriate, with internal and externalaudit teams and agencies to support contract-related activities and verify compliance.

Ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations.

Manage, provide guidance on and administer multiple, complex contracts and relationships with minimum management assistance:

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the different types of commercial/contract models and how to use them.
  • Ensures Terms and Conditions compliance and define all risks and create and implement solutions to problems and issues as they arise.
  • Independently identify, define and implement contract revisions and improvements in accordance with normal procedures.
  • Liaison with internally, with customers and suppliers in support of above and provide guidance and advise relevant to assigned agreements.
  • Organise and maintain contract files
  • Ensure timeliness of all contract actions and contract close out.
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders appraised of current issues and their mitigation/resolution.
  • Responsible for ensuring flow down of prime contract commercial requirements to suppliers.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Experience as a Commercial Officer or similar Contracts Management role
  • Contracts Management for Major Projects / Programmes / Complex Contracts
  • Knowledge of the different types of commercial / contract models and how to use them
  • Ensures Terms and Conditions compliance and define all risks and create and implement solutions
  • Independently identify, define and implement contract revisions and improvements
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, report writing and organisational skills
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at varying seniority levels
  • SC clearance or ability to achieve is required for this role

Desirable

  • MOD Contracts Management
  • Operating in a Business Development role (supporting Capture Management / Bids)
