Job description:


The role of Head of Financial MI and Efficiency is to lead a team responsible for providing DVSA with financial management information, which enables the Management Accounting team to have inciteful dialog with the business.

Acting as the key point of contact for efficiency reporting, you will conduct reviews ensuring consistency and clarity of data to support the agency's strategic objective of providing value for money.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee team priorities and resourcing to ensure the effective delivery of the financial system, data and technology.
  • Use insights from stakeholder engagement and data to effectively manage and improve the performance of reporting systems.
  • Provide expert advice regarding systems and technology to stakeholders within the organisation and across government.
  • Lead on the review and validation of all new efficiency proposals, providing advice and challenge to ensure efficiency criteria are met.
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing influence, direction and guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives. Establishes a strong direction and a persuasive future vision; managing and engaging with honesty and integrity, and upholding the reputation of the Agency, Department and Civil Service.

Person specification:


About you:


You will be someone who naturally enjoys working collaboratively with different business areas and likes the challenge of influencing others to achieve business outcomes.

You can build rapport quickly with both internal and external stakeholders which enables you to build solid working relationships.


Excellent organisational skills are required and you will be able to manage and filter workflow as well as organise and prioritise your work to maximise productivity and achieve all deadlines.

You will be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements of the role.


You will be a strong leader and be able to manage a small team who are based in our Swansea office.


Additional Information:


A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

You will be expected to travel to other DVSA offices on a monthly basis.
