Payroll Administration Assistant role for a period of 12 months.

What will you be doing?


Proving an effective and efficient support to the payroll team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all aspects relating to the payroll service.


Payroll Administration

  • Inputting of payroll data relating to staff payments, deductions, expenses and adjustments within pay deadlines.
  • Inputting of HMRC employee data including tax code changes and student loan deductions
  • Calculate and input payments for starters, leavers and contract variations.
  • Deal with employee queries and disputes that may often involve an element of conflict resolution due to their sensitive and complex nature. Such queries may be verbal or written.
  • Correspond with employees in relation to debt recovery, pension and any other matters concerning payroll and salary
  • Update and maintain employee records within the payroll and HR systems
  • Process pay data and produce system reports for the Finance Department within strict deadlines
  • Opening, distribution and dispatch of incoming and outgoing mail as appropriate.

Policy and Procedural

  • Liaise with and respond to enquiries from external agencies and organisations concerning pay, operating under the conditions set out GDPR legislation.
  • Liaise and work with the Human Resources and Finance teams to improve payroll systems, procedures and provide any reconciliation of accounts
  • Production of standard reports and information as required

General Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the HR department as and when required
  • Understand and observe that all matters concerning people we support and staff are kept strictly confidential.

Who are we looking for?

  • Someone who has a strong administration ability, with knowledge and experience of multiple administrative platforms. Previous knowledge of payroll would be ideal, but not essential.
  • Being professional and have a friendly/approachable manner with all levels of the workforce
  • Experience of working together with a team in problem solving, showing respect for people's opinions and views that has led to productive and positive outcomes.
  • Ability to demonstrate mirus values in practice.
  • Have a full driving license and access to your own vehicle
