The role of the Learning Specialist will focus on enabling everyone to be the best they can be for life through delivering the learning and development plan for Nando's Operations from Nandoca to Patrao (General Manager).

The focus of this role will be creating learning environments where Nandocas can continuously develop to be their best:


  • Equipping our people with the knowledge and skills and behaviours to be competent and confident in performing their role to the best of their ability
  • Designing and delivering learning and development interventions to support business and Operational priorities
  • Building our internal management capability to support future talent pipelines and organisational performance.
  • Understanding the current and future skills requirements of the roles in Nando's from Nandoca to Patrao, and creating flexible learning interventions (through digital and other means) to meet the diverse needs of the workforce
  • Role modelling our Grow principles and bringing them to life through learning interventions, equipping our Nandocas with the knowledge, skills, tools and resources to grow themselves and others

Key responsibilities

  • Writing, delivery and evaluation of tools, training plans and programmes for the career path for Operations
  • Plans, delivers and supports new restaurant openings. Ensuring our Nandocas have the knowledge, skills and competence to confidently perform their role.
  • Supports the design and delivery of inductions for managers and Central Support welcoming them to the Nando's family and bringing to life our Compass
  • Working in partnership with our learning tech team to design, deliver and evaluate all our online and digital tools and learning materials for our career path
  • Designs, delivers and evaluates all tools, learning materials and interventions in our career path
  • Designs, delivers and evaluates the talent development interventions in our career path with a focus on progression from Nandoca to Patrao roles
  • Assists and supports with any additional learning and development interventions / projects as required and in line with the L&D / People / Business plan.
  • Records, evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of L&D interventions and tools, updating or making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to internal stakeholders to improve individual, team or business performance.
  • Contributing as requested to the continuous development of our learning online and via technology i.e videos, online resources etc.
  • Keeps up to date with learning approaches used by other organisations and the external learning market.

Key skills and attitudes

  • Excellent programme design and evaluation skills
  • Able to design content based on a TNA and pull together into interactive and engaging interventions that aligns with our Grow Others principles
  • Able to effectively evaluate the impact of interventions demonstrating value add in relation to skiills, knowledge and behavioural development
  • Excellent training, facilitation and coaching skills
  • Able to deliver specific content to educate and inspire Nando's managers and Nandocas
  • Able to read indviduals and situations and flex style and content to match both the individual / group whilst still reaching objectives
  • Be able to solve operational training needs can differentiate between long and short term solutions to solve business needs
  • Has credibility and works in collaboration with both operational and Central Support partners to make recommendations and influence realistic, commercial solutions to business needs and projects
  • Analytical and problem solving skills able to solve problems and make sound judgements
  • Selfmotivation able to maintain direction and focus with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritise and manage high volume of workload and multiple tasks and workstreams
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable in a continuously evolving environment
  • Interest in business issues and motivated to add value
  • Must have a CIPD level 5 qualification
