About Tech Against Terrorism

Tech Against Terrorism enables the global technology sector to effectively tackle terrorist use of the internet whilst respecting human rights.

We focus on smaller tech platforms who might not have capacity or capability to respond to this threat without support.

We work closely with the United Nations, large tech firms, dozens of smaller tech platforms, democratic governments, and civil society.

Currently, we are working on expanding our work with a number of commercial and publicly funded projects.

The Role

Tech Against Terrorism is looking for its first ever Head of Strategic Partnerships to drive the implementation of our work for the global tech industry.

You will be responsible for building and managing strategic partnerships with the tech sector, government and intergovernmental bodies, industry networks and expert organisations and lead the creation and implementation of TAT's business development and fundraising strategy.

You will work closely with the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership Team in TAT to develop concept notes and business proposals and lead our strategic engagement with stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the sound management of TAT's fundraising and contract pipeline, including identifying fundraising opportunities, drafting proposals and leading all discussion for contract negotiation.

As a senior member of the TAT team, this role will see you represent the organisation at conferences alongside senior stakeholders so a broad understanding of our work will be required.

The role is well suited for someone with previous experience in a client engagement, account executive or a business development role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop TAT's commercial strategy as a social enterprise and lead its implementation in collaboration with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff
  • Work closely with TAT's technical solutions, research and policy teams to advance their outreach efforts, maximising the wider practical impact of the team's work
  • Develop concept notes and business proposals in collaboration with the wider team
  • Monitor and identify potential fundraising and business development opportunities
  • Lead the creation and implementation of organisational fundraising processes, systems, and structures in collaboration with the Chief of Staff
  • Representation and public speaking on behalf of Tech Against Terrorism at various inperson and virtual conferences and webinars
  • Report key developments to the organisation's Executive Director and Chief of Staff and forecast team and organisational growth from potential fundraising activities

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a stakeholder facing role, such as in business development, in a commercial function, or as account executive
  • Good understanding of online counter terrorism efforts, including how tech companies tackle online harms on their platforms
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to network and influence with ease
  • A demonstrable interest in and understanding of TAT's work and alignment with our values and mission

Personal qualities
-
Accountability and proactiveness: You thrive on taking ownership of both larger projects and smaller tasks and pursue them independently.
-
Collaboration: You value teamwork and the input of others and work effectively with colleagues to meet timelines and organisational targets.
-
Problem solving: You are solution oriented and innovative in how you approach challenges and blockers
-
Analytical and innovative mindset: You identify gaps and opportunities and proactively bring solutions and new ideas forward
-
Communication: You have excellent written and oral communications skills. You communicate to persuade and listen to understand.
-
Management: You have experience in project management and team leadership, and demonstrate capacity to support and upskill junior team members.
