BUYER-CONSTRUCTION

PERIVALE

SALARY UP TO £55,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
Our clientis a market leader in the field of Reinforced Concrete Frame and Groundwork Construction Services. They are now seeking a Buyer to join their busy team based in Perivale.


Due to continued growth and the recent award of a number of significant projects, our client now wishes to appoint a Buyer to join their busy team.

You will be supporting the business with regards to all buying and purchasing aspects throughout the UK, fromenquiry stage through to on time delivery of materials, plant, resources, labour and equipment to live, multiple sites.


The Role

  • Follow contracts programmes and ensure timely provision of specified equipment and supplies on multiple sites
  • Adapt quickly and efficiently to programme requirements
  • Ensure arrangements are in place to transport plant and site equipment from and to each project
  • Appraise potential suppliers and subcontractors expedite the QA aspects
  • Negotiate on price ethically and appropriately
  • Raise and manage purchase orders
  • Chase scheduled deliveries by liaising with suppliers
  • Track onhire reports and collection of offhired items
  • Monitor supplier performance
  • Update transport ledgers on a weekly basis and assist as appropriate with KPI date
  • Keep hired plant location sheets updated on a weekly basis
  • Ensure certification of hired plant is up to date, appropriately archived and renewed ahead of expiry dates
  • Provide service and support to contracts teams in meeting their needs
  • Provide support to Estimators with acquiring quotes, and offering supplier and material recommendations
  • Maintain a good relationship with the Plant and Accounts departments, and other internal teams
  • Obtain quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services ensuring value for money
  • Ensure delivery of goods and services within budget on each project
  • Check and manage invoices, whilst maintaining and adhering to internal procedures

The Person

  • Good commercial awareness and be organised by nature
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Confident, and have excellent, assured communication skills both verbally and written
  • Adapt and amend work load priorities in a regularly changing environment
  • Excellent IT skills
  • 35 years' experience in a purchasing or buying role
  • A natural team worker with a positive and friendly attitude
  • Well organised and efficient
  • Selfsufficient with mínimal supervision required
  • Possess good negotiating skills and have an ability to meet deadlines and work on your own initiative
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexible in being able to undertake different tasks
  • Value integrity, teamwork, excellence and respect in others
