AJ Connect is thrilled to be representing one of the largest forestry businesses in the UK to appoint a Credit Controller for their high-performing and dynamic team in the Scottish Borders.


As a key member of the finance team, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller this role is responsible for the effective credit control within the Group.

You will be working with other members of the credit control team and the wider teams in the UK business.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Manage the debtors of a portfolio of customers including National accounts
  • Manage customer queries to ensure ontime payments
  • Timely preparation of weekly/monthly management information, such as debt reporting, on credit controls for the Group
  • Manage the onboarding of new customers within the accounting software
  • Manage credit insurance for your portfolio of customers
  • Identify & mitigate credit control risks, assisting with improving/enhancing existing systems & processes
  • Management of writeoff and debt provisions, arranging payment plans for your portfolio of customers
  • Liaise, where applicable, with external stakeholders such as auditors and debt management agencies.

What you'll need to succeed in the role:

You will be an experienced Credit Controller, ideally within the manufacturing/production industry with excellent people management skills that will allow you to build excellent relationships with stakeholders internally and externally.


In addition, you will have:

  • Experience developing and maintaining endtoend credit control and accounts receivable processes; as well as identify and make improvements to existing processes
  • Sound knowledge of Credit Law and corporate legislations
  • Excellent IT skills, including a practical understanding of Microsoft packages
  • Willingness to undertake occasional travel to Group locations across the UK
  • Full Driving License
  • CICM or other related Financial Qualification(s) would be advantageous but not necessary.
