Due to continued growth and recent contract award in the NW&C region, we are recruiting for a General Foreman to join our North West regional team,
dedicated to working on Network Rail projects throughout the North West & Central region, working on a variety of rail infrastructure building and civil engineering infrastructure projects.

Business Unit


Following recent contract awards in the North West & Central business unit, we are looking to recruit General Foreman to support the delivery of a portfolio of building & civils infrastructure projects under newly awarded framework contracts.


A busy and fast paced project environment with an expansive portfolio of civils projects including a line side rail civils contracts, bridges and structures renewals, large structural installations including new bridges, Access for All (AFA) schemes and general civils works.


Projects can typically include bridge upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms etc), access for all schemes, structures including bridges and footbridges, line side civils etc.


The Role


As General Foreman, you will have the responsibility for planning and implementing the successful delivery of our various rail and civil engineering projects within our portfolio of project work in the North West & Central region.


Day to day responsibilities would include:

  • Ensuring the Health, Safety and Welfare of employees and others under their direct control through compliance with the requirements of the Supervisors Health and Safety Responsibility Statement
  • Ensuring that all company and client Health &Safety and Environmental initiatives are effectively implemented
  • The reporting of any unsafe practices
  • The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.
  • The effective leadership, supervision, utilisation and monitoring of Direct and Subcontract Labour Force
  • Delivery of works within programme and to budget, ensuring that the works are executed in accordance with the requirements of all applicable legislation including contract T&C's, Health & Safety, Environmental, design specifications, project methodologies and internal policies & procedures.
  • Ensuring that Quality standards are achieved and are 'right first time'
  • The continuous monitoring of the progress of the works to ensure contract objectives are being met
  • Ensuring that, changes to the scope of works are identified, agreed, implemented and effectively managed
  • Ensuring that robust records are maintained i.e. diaries, allocation sheets, plant etc.
  • The provision of formal reports on progress to the Project Manager/Site Agent
  • Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at site level, are passed for the attention of the Project Manager / Site Agent
  • The identification and implementation of training needs for directly employed operatives employees under their control.

Requirements:


To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a General Foreman in a rail and civil engineering environment.


  • PTS
  • SSSTS / SMSTS
  • Experience as a General Foreman in a civils contracting environment.
  • Experience in rail working on civil engineering associated projects
  • Experience in rail working on projects associated with civil engineering i.e. bridges, platforms, stations etc.
