Your role will be to:

Support the successful delivery of a Trust wide data warehouse for the Trusts business critical systems.

Support the Data Warehouse Manager on the development of a Trust wide reporting system including the use of dashboards.


Provide specialist advice relating to the interpretation of NHS data metrics and standards and take these into account when loading data into the data warehouse.

Provide technical expertise and in depth understanding of NHS information from a variety of systems.

Support the creation and maintenance process of nationally mandated
datasets and to ensure accurate and timely submission of all relevant statutory returns.


The Digital Services Systems Development Team provides a key function to the Trust in the areas of in-house systems development, web development (intranet and internet), data warehousing, enterprise level reporting (including dashboard development) and system support.

This important role will continue to develop and support the Trusts Data Warehouse and reporting / metric creation function.

You will need a strong understanding of databases and Microsoft SQL Server development (T-SQL, Integration Services), Reporting Services (Report Builder) and PowerBI.

Microsoft Azure exposure would be advantageous.


You will have a good understanding of NHS data, metrics and standards and will have experience of working with an enterprise level data warehouse.

An understanding of NHS commissioning, datasets and performance targets would be advantageous.

  • Advanced Knowledge of Relational Databases
  • In depth Knowledge in the field of NHS Information
  • In depth Knowledge of NHS Information requirements, datasets and submission processes
  • Knowledge of managing large relational database schemas
  • In depth knowledge of ETL/ELT processes.
  • In depth knowledge of building functional dashboards.
  • Advanced MS SQL Server database skills including SQL Server Management Studio, T-SQL, SSIS packages, stored procedures, functions, indexing and query tuning.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate documentation regarding the data structures, metrics, routines and files used by the Data Warehouse Team.
  • Experience of designing and developing specialised custombuilt reporting systems using MS SQL Reporting Services (Report Builder) and / or Power BI.
  • Experience of assessing the impact of forthcoming changes to NHS information requirements so that changes / improvements to the Trusts Data warehouse are developed and tested in good time
Experience of using BI tools and OLAP Reporting tools.
