This is an exciting opportunity to join the Post Graduate department at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an experienced Administrator to work within our friendly team, based in The Academy.

You will be responsible for providing administrative support to deliver the Foundation programme to Doctors in Training. This is a shared role with another Medical Education Administrator.


You will provide administrative support to the Foundation Programme Director (FPD), Deputy Foundation Programme Director (DFPD) and Medical Education Manager (MEM) in delivering the Foundation Programme, processing Study Leave Claims and Expenses for final sign off.


You will support the deputy MEM in the organisation and administration of all aspects of Medical Education for example, Induction, Teaching programme, Practical Procedure training, Regional Study days.

  • Be the main point of contact, along with colleagues within PGME, for Doctors in Training (DiT), supporting them in resolving their queries.
  • Support Deputy MEM and others in the planning, and organisation of the F1 Induction, F1 shadowing week and other Inductions such as out of Synch and IMT Inductions. Link in with other relevant departments (Recruitment, Human Resources, Workforce Intelligence, NHSE) to ensure PGME have the necessary relevant data to ensure a smooth Induction process for DiT with the help of senior members of the Postgraduate Medical Education team.
  • Oversee the Eportfolio (Horus) for foundation trainees by adding them onto the system, along with adding the educational and clinical supervisor. monitoring their progress. Raising and reporting to the FPD and MEM any concerns about either the system/ curriculum, or the progress of foundation DiT portfolio.
  • Review updates from NHS England in relation to the foundation programme and make recommendations to MEM of possible changes which may need to be made.
