  • My client is a high growth alternative asset management firm based in the West End of London. The Company manages the World Carbon Fund, a unique global carbon fund that has now grown to more than $250 million in size and has delivered strong absolute returns and a direct impact on climate change. They are expanding and searching for a Carbon Trader

Responsibilities:


  • Trade execution in relation to carbon futures and carbon options across the markets in which the Company trades.
  • Utilisation of quantitative techniques to optimise trading strategies.
  • Development of Company trading systems to enable enhanced trade execution methodologies to be deployed.
  • Proactive input into the ongoing development of alpha generating ideas and improvements in risk adjusted returns.
  • Engage actively in research projects to evaluate new investment opportunities and strategies. Quantitative analytical skills and strategy backtesting skills would be beneficial.
  • Coordinate and manage counterparties, exchanges and trading systems across the carbon markets.
  • Work closely with the portfolio manager to achieve best executions for all trades. Optimisation of portfolio implementation and selection of security types (physical allowances, futures, and options)
  • One to two years' experience in the investment and/or trading industry, with a preference for someone with experience in the energy markets.
  • Strong technical and professional knowledge of financial markets and wide range of instrument types including derivatives.
  • Advanced Excel and Python skills. Previous utilisation of these skills across a trading function to develop trading systems and methodology highly desirable.
  • Ability to backtest hypotheses and support develop profitable trading strategies.
  • Knowledge of, preferably with a passion for, climate and environmental policy and impact investing.
