Description

Role:
To work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and/or senior staff.

To support the Principal in addressing the needs of all pupils but especially those pupils who need particular help with behaviour management to overcome barriers to learning.

Establishing productive working relationships with pupils and acting as a role model.


Main Duties:

  • Establish respectful and trusting relationships with students, promoting positive values and attitudes; setting high expectations at all times.
  • Receive and supervise pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable.
  • Assist the teacher with the development and implementation of individual Education/ Behavioural/ Support plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting selfconfidence and independence, whilst encouraging students to take responsibility for their behaviour.
  • Support the challenge and motivation of pupils, promoting and reinforcing selfesteem.
  • Support pupils' access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources.
  • To work with the Internal Exclusion provision, ensuring a constant and proactive approach at all times
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback to other staff on pupil's achievement, progress and other matters as requested.
  • Support the implementation of agreed learning activities and teaching programmes and adjust activities according to pupil responses and needs.
  • Communicate effectively with the teacher, to support achievement and progress of pupils.
  • Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection; health and safety; confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Be aware and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Record on SIMS all contact with parent / carers and other professionals in relation to individual students.
  • To assist with the collation of student behaviour reports as requested by the Associate Assistant Principal for Behaviour.
