Are you a motivated person who takes pride in a job well done? If so, we would love you to join our Facilities Team at your local community hospital.

We are currently recruiting to a Facilities Service Assistant position at South Petherton Community Hospital.

We have 18 hours available working 3 x 6 hour shifts including some weekends and evenings.

The shifts are more likely to be pm or - 8pm but the hours may need to be flexible to cover sickness and holidays etc.

In turn we can offer flexibility should you need it.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be in the housekeeping and portering departments.

The role involves cleaning within the Hospital such as ward, outpatients, X-Ray, toilets, meeting rooms, and offices.

You'll occasionally need to support in the removal of waste, movement of supplies, acceptance of deliveries and ordering of laundry.


You'll help to play a key role in our ongoing fight against hospital acquired infections by ensuring that the hospital is cleaned on a regular basis to a consistently high standard and make a valuable contribution in the wider care team that supports a patient during their time in hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To clean areas to a high and recognised standard, following National Cleaning Standards 2021 Guidance.
  • Work closely with the ward and Infection Control team to ensure areas are cleaned as appropriate in a timely manner.
  • To exercise good hand and personal hygiene at all times, following Infection Control procedures.
  • Cleaning duties include floor mopping, damp dusting, low
- and high-level dusting, bed cleaning, vacuuming, curtain changing & spot cleaning of carpets.
