Are you a Preconstruction Surveyor and keen to work for one of the biggest brands in the housebuilding industry?
Pettigrew Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with a very well respected, household name in the housebuilding world.

With offices in Perth, this established business is renowned for delivering homes and contributing to growing communities across Scotland and beyond.

This is a newly created role and is seen as crucial to the successful delivery of future developments.

Reporting to the Managing Surveyor, duties of the role will include:


  • Support the land team with the preparation of site specific land appraisals in line with established land bid timetables.
  • Review, establish and report on risks and opportunities with each land bid.
  • Liaise with all relevant disciplines and third parties to successfully compile land bids in line with agreed timescales.
  • Review, analyse, query, input and report on information provided in connection with land bids.
  • Ensure relevant submissions into land approval papers and consider and discuss value engineering ideas pre and during design stage.
  • Create plots and budgets from land appraisals.
  • Prepare and present budget handover pack to Surveying and Procurement teams.
  • Produce, update, report on and present changes to cost libraries / regional comparisons / geographic influences for approval.
  • Establish base costs for new house types.
  • Cost / Benefit analysis on existing, alternative and new methods of construction.
  • Prepare site specific budgets in preparation for land appraisals and support in the mobilisation activities as required.
  • Compliment all site start activities ensuring no delays are encountered by the Surveying and Procurement teams.
  • Tender, negotiate, obtain approval to award civils packages as required Together with relevant parts of the Commercial team, ensure relationships established and maintained with key civil contractors.
To be considered we are looking for individuals with the following:

  • Fully experienced in appraisals, ensuring development opportunities are evaluated correctly.
  • Confident in managing the procurement processes through to contract award as well as placement of all packages and management through to completion.
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of groundworks packages.
  • Capable of working autonomously, be well organised and have the ability to communicate effectively with your internal team and external clients.
