Main duties of the job:
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is able to use their initiative and are interested in nephrology, peritoneal dialysis and renal surgery.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Senior Nursing Assistant to work on our renal and dialysis ward.
As a Senior Nursing Assistant you will be working as part of the team providing care to patients and you will be accountable for the delivery of patient care under the leadership of the registered nurses.
Experience in preparing and administering peritoneal dialysis is an advantage.
You must have completed a care certificate and recent experience of working with patients in the renal and dialysis area will be an added advantage.

Education & professional Qualifications:
Essential criteria:
- NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent/New Diploma Level 3 or equivalent
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills to GCSE C or equivalent
- Committed to own personal development and evidence of regular attendance at training days
Desirable criteria:
- Completion of Assessor training
Experience:
Essential criteria:
- Previous experience of working with patients in a hospital environment
- Previous experience of team work
Desirable criteria:
- Previous experience of customer care
Skills and aptitudes:
Essential criteria:
- CAPD/APD experience
- Ability to learn new skills quickly
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload
- Ability to communicate and present written information clearly
- Basic computer /key board skills
- Ability to understand and undertake monitoring of patients' vital signs
Desirable criteria:
- Competent in performing investigations & procedures e.g. ECGs, catheterisation, simple dressings
- Competent in performing cannulation and phlebotomy
