Introduction
Arriva TrainCare have a number of Service Assistant vacancies available working across days or nights.
This is a development role that will enable, through a detailed progression plan, your ability to fulfil the Service Assistant Role.
The requirements for progression are detailed within the training section of this document.
A varied role, that includes efficiently operating the fuel point and CET plant to deliver the highest possible performance as a team member.
Carry out overnight servicing on a variety of customer trains, including, but not limited to the replenishment of coolants, oils, fuels, sanding systems and Screen wash.
Responsibilities
Carry out tasks to deliver customer requirements, in accordance with laid down operating instructions, ensuring compliance at all times
To include:
- Fuelling of traction units.
- Filling toilet water tanks and emptying effluent tanks.
- Filling wholesome water tanks
- Replenishment of coolants, oils, sanding systems and screen wash
- Topping up of other on train systems, as instructed by the team leader.
Carry out Maintenance Activities to documented instructions (VMI)
Where necessary training and competency requirements have been met, operate plant and equipment as required to meet the needs of the business.
Ensure all documentation / paperwork issued relating to the work being carried out is correctly and fully completed.
Carry out Environmental and Chlorination tasks.
Take part in technical, quality, safety and general briefings and safety tours, ensuring that the necessary action is taken on items raised.
Maintain good housekeeping and standard of cleanliness, of the fuel point facility and throughout the depot at all times.
Work safely as an individual and team member.
Use of all PPE in accordance with standards and local instructions.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 certificate in Engineering or BTEC / City & Guilds equivalent
Good standard of education
IT literate

Licence/Certification:
- NVQ Level 2 certificate in Engineering or BTEC (preferred)
