This post is a limited term appointment for 12 months Are you a Consultant Paediatrician looking to work in a great location with an excellent work-life balance? Join our team as a Consultant Paediatrician for Manx Care on the Isle of Man About the hospital and service The Noble's Hospital Paediatric Department is a small but dynamic and forward thinking unit.

There is a 17 bed Paediatric ward with 2 dedicated HDU beds and a 9 cot newly built 'state of the art' Neonatal Unit meeting all BAPM standards.

We are a designated level 2 unit within the Merseyside/North West Network.

There are between 500 and 600 new GP referrals to Paediatric Outpatients annually and between 3500 and 4000 total paediatric patient episodes in OPD.

There are between 1200 and 1300 admissions to the children's ward and approximately 800 to 1000 deliveries with an admission rate to the Neonatal Unit of approximately 14%.

The Paediatric team has an excellent working relationship with Allied Health professionals (AHPs) who are based in the community with scheduled and ad-hoc attendance at Noble's Hospital.


We also have the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) which is a dedicated team located alongside Noble's Hospital with Child Psychiatrists and a team of supporting therapists.

About the role and team This post will have a safety impact on providing additional on Island support for transferring Neonates off Island.

This post aims to support improved direct Consultant supervised and delivered care on a day to day basis (In line with RCPCH Acute Care Standards) and continuity and efficiency of care on an annual basis.

The Paediatrician of the day will accept and be responsible for the immediate management and oversight of all patients admitted during the hour period on call day for the consultant that is being covered.

The daily handover round will be attended by both the leaving and arriving speciality doctors.

All Consultants will contribute when possible and be available to the continuity of care of cases in their complex caseload, particularly complex cases and sub-specialty cases such as Neonatology, Diabetes, Oncology and Cardiology (time will be made available within their respective job plans for this).
