The role of Payroll Trainer Mentor, based in Derby you will be providing blended academic and pastoral advice, guidance and support as well as ensuring a safe and conducive working environment for our learners.
The role has a diverse student range of apprentices, and you will support them through their payroll qualification.
You will create and deliver all online or classroom training and exam sitting support, bringing to life the payroll qualification, inline with the apprenticeship standard guidelines.
As you are responsible for the whole apprenticeship learning journey there will be a focus on regular reviews with the students in the workplace and classroom, as well as for the administration related to student reviews, up until the completion of the End Point Assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering the specific Payroll Apprenticeship Standard qualification training in the classroom or online environment.
- Maintaining current professional knowledge within the payroll field and undertake CPD activities as required.
- Assessing and supporting learners towards the successful completion of their qualification.
- Working to ensure learner outcomes are achieved in a timely manner.
- Ensuring all learners are given constructive feedback on growing their knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Establishing and maintaining professional working relationship with employers, ensuring that they are informed and part of the learning journey for their workforce.
- Conduct regular and timely progression reviews with learners as per the standard operating model, setting SMART targets and providing additional learner support as required.

- Relevant occupational competence within a payroll environment.
- Strong IT capability.
- Ability to create and implement high quality learning resources
- Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively.
- Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learners.
- Must be an excellent communicator who is learner and quality focused.
- The ability to collaborate with others and contribute towards targets.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage your time effectively and work on your own initiative
- Excellent analytical, decision making and problemsolving skills
- Desirable: __
- Relevant payroll qualification
- Recognised Teaching qualification, e.g. PTLLs or equivalent.
- Experience of liaising with employers and external agencies.
- Prior experience of working within apprenticeships / education or with unemployed individuals.
- Experience of working to KPI's.
- Apprenticeship Trainer or Tutor qualification.
- Experience of delivering Apprenticeship qualifications including Functional Skills.
- Experience in AAT/Payroll curriculum design
- Knowledge of the AAT/Payroll apprenticeship qualifications and EPA process.
- A full drivers' licence, access to own vehicle
